Birds of the Doubtful Valley - Whio
The whio or blue duck is endemic to New Zealand, and with a total population of between 2,000 and 3,000 is at risk of extinction. Whio live in fast flowing rapids of mountain streams in the forested upper reaches if New Zealand rivers.
